Meet Mrs. Carr
How exciting to be here at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School! It is my pleasure to bring experience from 33 years in the field of education to the Pre-K through Grade 8 learning community here. My own education was founded in the Catholic School system, attending three years at St. Angela Merici in Fullerton, Ca., five years at Holy Family School here in Decatur, IL and four years at St. Teresa H.S. as well. I am a 1983 Graduate of Millikin University and earned a Master's Degree in Gifted Education/Instructional Media from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 1997.
In addition to over 24 years of classroom teaching experience, I had the pleasure of managing 1:1 technology grants throughout the state of Illinois and supporting multiple e-Learning initiatives including teaching and learning in a 1:1 environment, Internet safety, and more during four years of employment as a Principal Consultant with the Illinois State Board of Education. While there, I was part of support teams that introduced the statewide Response to Intervention process, supported School Improvement through Title I/Reading Improvement, and approved Technology Integration Plans on behalf of the State Superintendent. I was a consultant on the development of the Illinois Interactive Report Card, and represented the Superintendent on the Governor's Rural Broadband Committee.
I have presented at local, state, and national educational technology conferences on the topics of teaching and learning with technology. It was an honor to be selected as one of 100 top Digital Innovators by PBS Learning Media in 2014.
Students will experience learning using a wide range of web-based instructional resources created to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum that are part of their weekly computer lab lessons. Additionally, students are learning proper keyboarding technique, and how to use productivity tools (Google Tools) as they complete both individual and collaborative activities found in resources made available through the computer literacy curriculum purchased by the school.
